If you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, there are organisations in Greater Manchester that provide support and guidance to LGBTQ+ people.

Getting support

If you’re struggling with thoughts of suicide, you don’t have to suffer alone. There is help out there for you. It’s really important that you tell someone how you are feeling.

LGBT Foundation

Support, advice and information for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities across Greater Manchester. It also runs Rainbow Brew Buddies, a befriending service for LGBTQ+ people.

Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline

Confidential helpline and online chat for LGBTQ+ people that need to talk. All volunteers are LGBTQ+ and there to listen to you.

The Proud Trust

Support for young people that are LGBTQ+ or questioning. Support includes one-to-one sessions and youth groups

MindOut

A mental health service run by and for LGBTQ+ people. MindOut also runs a suicide prevention project which includes online support and peer mentoring.

Galop

Emotional and practical support for LGBT+ people experiencing domestic abuse.

Indigo Gender Service

NHS adult gender service in Greater Manchester designed for and by trans and non-binary people.

Traveller Pride

We are group made up of Travellers (used as inclusively as possible) who are LGBT+ (likewise) who want to provide a platform for our intersectional community. We act as a network that can provide guidance, support and information to make life easier for LGBT+ Travellers as well as providing essential services, meetup spaces and collaborating with​ other organisations to make them more welcoming to us.
