A 3 module training package Wednesday October 4th to Wednesday December 13th 2023 at 1pm

In 2019, Health Education England (HEE), working with Public Health England (now OHID) and the suicide prevention leads for Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Mersey and Lancashire and South Cumbria, identified a need for specialist suicide bereavement training for counsellors and those working in talking therapy services.

Cruse Bereavement UK were awarded the contract after a procurement exercise and working in partnership, developing a 3 module training package to equip Counsellors and Talking Therapists with the skills and tools they will need to provide appropriate support to people who have been bereaved by suicide and to enhance patient care and experience by improving the support available.

Funding from HEE, Greater Manchester and Lancashire and South Cumbria has provided training to 115 staff and volunteers, including Therapists, Counsellors and Psychologists across the North West. Delegates have been from a broad range of NHS and third sector organisations included charities and community interest organisations.

Cruse will now continue to provide the training, at a cost, to individuals/services. You can find out more and book tickets here

Feedback on the training has been extremely positive.

The training was so powerful and helped me reach a less fraught perspective of suicide. By the end of the training, suicide wasn’t something I put ‘over there’ anymore, something to avoid talking about. Suicide became something ‘over here’, that is ok to talk about without shame.

Excellent course content and presentation. A good combination of information, group discussion with breakout rooms, which I found created a safe space for exploration.  The small group size made it a more personal experience.  Additionally, the presenter’s depth of knowledge and understanding themselves, the willingness to share.
