NHS Greater Manchester, with support from the National Private Hire & Taxi Association (NPHTA), has reached out to the 18,500 licensed taxi and private hire drivers across the City region to encourage them to complete free online Zero Suicide Alliance suicide prevention training.
Numbers completing the training have increased since the initiative was launched at the start of April 2025.
Salford driver, Rob, says the training has helped him feel more prepared. He says:
“It’s mostly common sense, but it gives you the confidence to act if something doesn’t feel right. Even just keeping a conversation going can help someone feel seen. It only takes 10 minutes. You never know when you’ll be in the right place to help.”
